Running your facies model
With the Run Model form (model > Facies > Run Model) you can execute the modeling run for one or more Volumes of Interest (VOI's). The result consists of a grid property which is stored in the JewelExplorer (under the Facies folder) and which can be visualized in the 3D View.
To run your model
- Open the Run Model form and select the facies model from the Model drop-down list.
- In the Volume of Interest table, select one or more Volumes of Interest (VOIs) that you want to run. The Status column indicates whether the model already contains results for the respective VOI. If so, it will have the Modeled status.
- Set unselected VOIs to 'Undefined' This checkbox becomes relevant when there are VOIs in the VOI table which contain run results of a previous run and which you do not intend to run this time.
- When the box is checked, the deselected VOIs will be reset to undefined values.
- When the box is not checked, the deselected VOIs will keep their previous run results.
- Simulation seed base A number to start the generation of seeds to start stochastic simulation algorithms. Internally, the Simulation Seed Base number is used to construct simulation seeds for each VOI (with simulation method) and realization, suitable for the stochastic algorithms. When all parameters settings remain the same, a different Simulation Seed Base number will trigger the stochastic processes (path, sampler) and produce different results. Only when all parameter settings are the same and the Simulation Seed Base number is identical, you can reproduce the results. When you have selected Constant as modeling method, the option is disabled.
- Realizations The number of realizations produced by the modeling run. The realizations are stored in the JewelExplorer (under the Facies folder) in one facies property, with the number of realizations printed after the name, e.g. Facies Model 1 [1 of 3].
- Re-run single realization After QC'ing multiple realizations, you can re-run a specific realization to use as input to subsequent modeling steps (e.g. the saturation property model). If you have multiple realizations from a previous run, and you do not re-run a single realization, by default the first realization (of the suite of realizations) is used. When you re-run a single realization, it will replace all previous run results in the JewelExplorer.
- Click Apply to run the model and keep the form open, or click OK to run the model and close the form.
Uncertainty
The facies model can be propagated as a parametric uncertainty in a probabilistic volumetric calculation with the study strip by making the 'Simulation seed base' uncertain. Click the uncertainty symbol
next to the 'Simulation seed base' entry field to open the Uncertainty Parameter dialog. For how to use the controls on the dialog, see The Uncertainty Parameter dialog. For information about parametric uncertainties and how to use them in JewelSuite Subsurface Modeling, see Incorporating uncertainty in static or dynamic modeling.

If you ran multiple realizations, you have to use the Property Inspector to change the realization displayed in the 3D View. To do this, go to Panes > Inspector and click on the Property Inspector symbol
. In the Property section, under Current step. type the realization number. The 3D View automatically updates.

Uncertainty
When you perform a probabilistic volumetric calculation with the study strip (Study > Volumetrics), and you re-run a single realization, that realization is used as the reference case. If you have multiple realizations and do not re-run a single realization, the probabilistic volumetric calculation will use the first realization as the reference case.
The Summary VOI section on the right side of the form shows the summary of the selected VOI on the left side of the form. You can export the summary of the selected VOI by clicking on Copy to Clipboard button. To export the summary of all the VOI's in your model click on Copy all VOI summaries to Clipboard.
